Week 40: Citrix Files for Windows

Happy Tech Tuesday! Today we discuss Citrix Files for Windows.
In this week’s Tech Tuesday, you will learn how to configure Citrix Files for Windows locally on your desktop as well as in Citrix. This document will also briefly touch on how to access the Shared Folders using Citrix Files for Windows.
Configuring Citrix Files for Windows Locally
Citrix Files for Windows should have already automatically installed on your computer. If you do not see the ShareFile login window, please let Michael Montgomery know so he can assist in the manual installation. If you already have Citrix Files for Windows configured on your local desktop (JGA staff, and a few others already do), you can disregard this section of the document.
- After you sign into your Wheeler desktop or Wheeler laptop, you should see a ShareFile Sign In window appear on your screen.
- Type “wcpa” for the account subdomain.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your ShareFile credentials in the next Sign In window:
- Type in your email address.
- Type in your password.
- Click Sign In.
- The next window will feature 3 options for MFA. Click Text Message.
- Enter the verification code that was sent to your mobile phone.
- Now that you are signed into Citrix Files for Windows, you will need to adjust a setting for the ShareFile drive letter:
- Click the Up arrow in the task bar.
- Right-click the Citrix Files icon.
- Click Settings.
- To adjust the drive letter setting:
- Select X: in the drop-down menu.
- Click the X in the top-right to close the window.
Your Citrix Files for Windows has now been configured to use X: drive on your local desktop.
Configuring Citrix Files for Windows in Citrix
- To sign into Citrix Files for Windows in Citrix:
- Click the Up arrow in the task bar.
- Right-click the Citrix Files icon with the yellow triangle in it.
- Click Sign In.
- At the ShareFile sign in window:
- Type “wcpa” for the account subdomain.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your ShareFile credentials in the next Sign In window:
- Type in your email address.
- Type in your password.
- Click Sign In.
- The next window will feature 3 options for MFA. Click Text Message.

Accessing Shared Folders Using Citrix Files for Windows
In this example, we are going to check out the Clients-Individuals-1040-Wheeler folder.
- To open the Citrix Files for Windows File Explorer either in Citrix or locally on your desktop:
- Click the Up arrow in the task bar.
- Double-click the Citrix Files icon.
- Double-click on the Shared Folders folder.
- Double-click on the Clients-Individuals-1040-Wheeler folder.
- Now you are in the Clients-Individuals-1040-Wheeler folder.
