Week 12: ShareFile Client Password Reset

Happy Tech Tuesday! This week, we go over ShareFile Client Password Reset. 

 

Occasionally, a client will lose track of their ShareFile password over the course of not using it for several months. When a client requests that we reset their ShareFile password, we can go into ShareFile and reset their password to a new password.

Resetting a Client’s ShareFile Password

  1. Sign into ShareFile by browsing to https://wcpa.sharefile.com/Authentication/Login and authenticate with your Wheeler ShareFile credentials.
  2. Once signed into ShareFile:
    1. On the left-hand side, click People.
    2. Click Browse Clients.
       
  3. The Browse Clients screen will open.
    1. Click in the Search Clients box and type in the name of the client. Note that the client has a last login of 6/16/17 in the example below. If the client has never logged in, you may use the “The Client Has Never Logged In” section after Step 8 below.
    2. Click the Gear icon to edit the client.

  4. Once the client’s Basic info page loads:
    1. Scroll down to the Password: (optional) field.
    2. Click Reset.

  5. Type in a new password for the client.

    Please note that passwords must contain at least 8 characters, containing at least 1 number,     1 special character, 1 upper case letter, and 1 lower case letter. Failing to do so will result in     the following error message:

  6. After typing in the new password:
    1. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
    2. Click Save Changes.

  7. If you have typed in a password that meets the security requirements, you should see that the client was updated successfully. If not, you will see the error message in Step 5.A.

  8. Tell the client their new password and have them login to make sure the new password works for them.

 

The Client Has Never Logged In

If you get to Step 3.A above and find that the client has never logged in, you can resend the Welcome Email.

  1. Continue to the client’s Basic info page by clicking the Gear icon.

  2. Once the client’s Basic info page loads:
    1. Scroll down to the Actions area.
    2. Click Email Login Information.

  3. In the Resend Welcome Emails page, click the Notify button to resend the Welcome email.
